Yeah - pretty severe thread hijack - our bad...

back to boat buying -

I parsed that one out for ya...

Pretty sure this is a private sale. Dealers/Brokers don't invest much time in selling sub=$10k boats.

Unless the commission is good. There could be several reasons why. I saw a broker listed 29' Islander for $2000 about a week ago in Texas.

I get the impression that this guy is looking for adventure, and I hope he finds it. A safe one that is.

Steel is the last thing you want to get a bargain deal on though. Except perhaps wood. Although I'd take rotten wood over rotten steel any day. Wood has a beauty to it. Steel is nothing but the sound of grinders and industrial chemicals.

I get the impression this guy is going to sail this old steel boat into the ground and be done with it. Chalk it up as an experience, and I hope he enjoys it. Quite frankly the volunteer stripper crew blows me away. I'm jealous.

If only I could get so lucky with my blistery old fiberglass tub.

i have a feeling the only type of stripper the OP will have to deal with is.......paint stripper
