Two Young People Buying Their First Sailboat

Hello everyone, it is our first post on this forum, even though we have found a lot of answer to our questions over here on this forum. So I must start with a huge wave of thanks to all of you guys who keep putting your opinions, thoughts and experiences. It is good for us the newby to read what you have to say and it is a wicked way to learn.
There you go, we bought our sailboat last year and we aspire to go around the world filming a documentary. Netzah, this is the name of our beautiful ship and if you want to see pics of her click here .
We had a bit of a story in the process of buying the boat and I should say that it went from a total nightmare to a real dream. If you are young and you are thinking of buying a boat, I think you should consider to read this, our story. It is a bit long and there are many details to it so instead of writing every thing again over here on the forum i give you the link where we have the story.

It is good to make my first post over here. I thought that sharing what happened to us with others might help somebody. we wish that to happen to no one else.
On the other hand, we came out of it...they say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger... we are then stronger I believe, we have a beautiful boat and we are slowly going around the world with our cameras, just as we dreamt about one year ago,we sure lost a lot of money but we are healthy and young, we can make it back.

may the sun shines on all of you people of the sea.
thank you again for this forum and everyone participating to it.

our blog is :Terra D'Agua
and you are more than welcome to visit and tell us what you think.

Can you excuse my english, this is not my first language and I must make tons of mistakes.

Re: Two Young People Buying Their First Sailboat

I don't think I know anyone more deserving to enjoy a carefree, fun, cruising lifestyle as you folks. What a story of chin up and determination. You learned and endured so much on your first "Swiss cheese" boat, it will serve you well in the future.

Keep us posted, and welcome to CF.

Re: Two Young People Buying Their First Sailboat

Thank you guys for the nice words! We are really happy to be part of the CF and we find all sorts of great infos over here and nice people to cheer us up when the '**** hits the fan' ( sorry, a bit rude, but i'm liking this expression). Even though I am new ( its me Claudia talking. Fortunately for us, Tassio knows much more than me) to the sailing world, I will try to participate as much as possible to the conversation where I feel I may be useful but really, until I hit the 10 years experience out on a sailboat, I will mostly annoy you guys with my thousands questions. I was like that at school when I was a little younger and I still am the same, always the one raising the hand to ask one more little question. :-)
Wave of thanks again for a warm welcome!
Claudia

Great site, welcome aboard and good luck with your adventure. You two seem to have the moxy it takes.
I read your story on the first boat. A cautionary tale indeed. I've seen this many times over the years and I've said it many times and will say it again. Surveys are for banks, the pros are the ones you hire before you buy a boat.

Yes, some very scenic areas. I was there 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off, on a off shore drill rig about 120 miles east of Macae.

Re: Two Young People Buying Their First Sailboat

THanks again everyone! Just to say we still love steel boat even though oour ended up in swiss cheese. Netzah is an aluminum sailboat and we love it but we are a lot into metal boats in general. We dream to get to the cold and far away places one day and we believe that metal is the way to go... Even though we know that plenty of fiberglass good boats have made their way through the ice...Anyway, respect for all sailboats
