Tip on how to find a good bargain used boat

The best bargains often can been found in boats not even on the market place yet!
Many boat owners are not using their boats anymore but still procrastinate in taking steps to put it on the market.
It is not easy to put your boat on the market: either you pay a broker or your spend a lot of time advertising it on internet, bulletin boards, magazines, ... so it is very easy to postpone doing it...

But if someone contact you by email or phone an make you a decent offer, you probably will accept and the whole process will go easy and fast between buyer and seller! So, if you are looking for a new boat, visit some marinas and ask friends around the world who are in marinas and can probably give you some leads

Good luck to you finding your Dream Boat at a price you can afford!
I have been here in a marina in Southern Philippines and have seen many boats for sale around me ... most of them not very well advertised or not at all (see above reasons)! There must be at least 5 monohulls and a few catamaran for sale here right now !

I can't agree more. I recommend boats that are not officially for sale on a regular basis.

Agreed. If I have to buy a boat again and I have the time / ability to make repairs, I would visit boats yard, marinas and spend time with liveaboards ppl.

There are many good deals like this one 42' Hallberg Rassy been sitting here in the marina for 2 years. The owner have 2 boats so he is selling the smaller one.

Also: check out the marina to see if any boat has been seized for lack of dock payment. Same in the boatyard, although you had better be a good judge of boats to go after some of them....
