Things to get while in America
I'm planning to leave Hawaii soon and was wondering if there's any specific things to order/get before I head south to the pacific islands... things that are easier or more available in Hawaii or online. Spares are the obvious, but I'd still like to hear any experience of "Damn I wish I got X when I had the chance."

I don't drink coffee, and I think I have enough odds and ends to replace broken parts.

Re: Things to get while in America
If you plan to fly an ensign, get some spares while in the USA. Bigger selection, much less expensive, and they don't last all that long when in constant use. We go through one a year or more if there's been a lot of high wind days.

Cheez Wizz ... I believe that is to North Americans what Vegemite and TimTams are to Australians.

I plan to sustain on my boats solar, and think I could get any adapter locally. (Which reminds me to get a smaller non-boat dependent solar source)
I have no less than 3 can openers.

Haha, I'll pass on the wizz.
I do plan to leave with my fair share of marlin jerky and peanut butter.

Re: Things to get while in America
Back to the OP:
If you like Mexican food, and cook your own (not many decent Mexican restaurants in Oz, though it is improving), bring a goodly supply of your favourite ground chiles or other condiments that you use. Essentially no decent corn tortillas here, but lots of long life flour tortillas in the markets. Not great, but ok. Tomatillos are very hard to find, too, but I don't like the tinned ones very much.
Anyhow, you get the picture I hope!

Come on Jim, there's a Guzman y Gomez in just about every large shopping mall.

Re: Things to get while in America
Give us some help here so we can help you, okay?
Single handed, couple, kids, aboard?
Tobacco/spirits/wine/beer users?
Medical needs / prescription drug refills /allergies / susceptibility to illness?
Well.... Guess the point is that if you NEED it, better take extra.
Like beer and pint bottles of decent whiskey - because gifts (cough cough bribes) are always appreciated and booze out there is expensive.
But to your question: Sail repair stuff. Good needles were almost impossible to find. We were down to nada upon arrival in New Zealand after twice repairing our mainsail, once the stay'sl, and twice helping other boaters with their sail repairs. Don't think for an instant that even a new sail can't/won't rip out. S*** happens.
Wish we'd taken more blank notepads (half letter size) and pens/pencils. Foot balls, AKA: soccer balls. (Store deflated & pump 'em up as needed.) Kids on the islands liked those sort of things we handed out when we meandered through - the smiles on their faces!. Especially in Tonga. Bonus: We usually ended up being invited to some family's home for dinner because those kids told their parents about us. If invited, do NOT arrive empty handed.
Leave a clean wake.
Fair winds & following seas!

I'm not too picky on food... I did however grow up in New Mexico so most Mexican food doesn't come close anyway. ;-)

Re: Things to get while in America
Since it seems he's shooting down most of your ideas, how about this question as an alternative - Is there anything that theway could bring to the pacific islands that others might want? Could be good for bartering.
