Survey & Sea Trial

Hi All,
Looking at a 2004 53' Selene. Can anyone suggest a good company to do the survey & sea trial in Annapolis. We are working with the seller's broker but wasn't sure if we should go with his suggestion - this is all new to us!!
Thanks in advance!
Nancy

Re: Survey & Sea Trial

First find you a broker, the sellers broker is for the seller, not you.
A buyers broker can get a lot of info you may not be able to, like comps, and in the case of my boat, we were able to find out what the seller paid for it.
Buyers broker has a list of good surveyors, a very through comprehensive survey can of course save you some bad surprises, but can also be a very valuable tool for bargaining the final price.
Oh and a buyers broker and the sellers broker split the comission, if there is no buyers broker, then the sellers keeps the whole lot, so having a buyers brokers costs you nothing

Re: Survey & Sea Trial

If you are already dealing with the listing broker it may be difficult to insert another broker at this point. I assume you don't want to have to pay your broker yourself?

An excellent power boat surveyor is John Pepe on the Eastern Shore. He is very knowledgeable and you won't get a 40 page boilerplate presentation.

JP Associates 410-726-3453.

If you would like to PM me I will tell you about my history with him.

Good luck.
