Storage ideas for the mast below deck?

I'd like to fabricate a wrapper for our keel-stepped mast that has pockets or mesh bags or other clever storage solutions for the saloon. Do you have something like this? Will you share your photos? Or links to a DIY tutorial? There's real potential there...I just know it. But I need inspiration.

Buy one o f those canvas shoe storage devices for closets! Devise a way to wrap it and snap it onto the mast and you're done!
