Stockholm area winter docking

I heard through the grapevine that there are many permanent live aboards in Stockholm. I have recently crossed from the Caribbean & am currently on the South Coast. Ystad. Im looking for a marina or berth of any kind, in the Stockholm area where I will be tolerated as a single live aboard sailor, to spend the winter. Be nice to have other live aboards around. Boat is 50 Beneteau. 2,5m deep. I have a wood stove aboard for heat, but need electricity for batteries & exterior de icing if required. I do not mind squatting somewhere, but prefer to pay at a marina or even next to another vessel, as it keep things on the level.Any ideas or suggestions?

Re: Stockholm area winter docking

... if I am not mistaken I read while visiting Waxholm (Waxholms Gästhamn - Home) this year that they are offering places in the water in winter, incl. 'de icing with air bubbles'.

Regards,

Carsten

Are you an EU citizen? Do Schengen restrictions apply?

I'm not trying to be negative. We've considered spending next winter in Scandinavia, but ran into the 90 day restriction. Is there a way around this?

Re: Stockholm area winter docking

Waxholm is a charming summer-town outside Stockholm although it is a small town, very quiet in the winter. Other alternatives may be:
Wasahamnen - near the center of town - WasaHamnen - Index
Navis also close to the center - Navigationssällskapet > Djurgårdshamnen > Guest Marina
KSSS - Royal Swedish Yacht Club - offers ice free docking in Saltsjöbaden from where there are a comuter train to the city - KSSS Nyheter | Vinterplatser lediga i vattnet hos KSSS i Saltsjöbaden | KSSS - SEK 10.000 per one winter
Pampas marina also close to the center - Vinterförvaring

I hope translate.google will help you in your evaluation!

I would go with Pampas Marina if I where you. They have showers etc in the marina and lots of live aboard. Also chandlery in the harbour and really in the middle of town. The number to them are +46 8 587 557 10

Pampas & Karlslund is full. Then Waxholm & a few others cannot accomodate 50ft. Seems most Gasthamnen are closed for the winter. Navis have not finalized their haulouts yet so cannot say. Slim chance there. Port of Stockholm referred me back to Pampas. Any other ideas? Djurgarden? Skeepsholmen? Alongside another vessel, ship tug or barge?

There are winter docking in Gothenburg, on the west coast of Sweden if you give up on Stockholm.I'm not sure of which marinas that offer this but I can check if you want me to.

Re: Stockholm area winter docking

I wrote to Pampas about liveaboard, and they replied:

Quote:
As far as a year round berth is concerned I must point out that living on the boat will not be allowed if this is what you are planning. Due to local authority planning regulation and fire safety laws we will not rent any berth for residence for any period of time.
Has anyone encountered this? Does thtis mean that living aboard a sailboat in Stockholm is forbidden everywhere?

It is possible and allowed to live on a boat in Stockholm, but only in certain marinas if you want to use that as your registered address with the authorities.

There are some workarounds to that if you find another marina that is willing to let you stay there during the winter.

Thanks for your reply. Would you happen to know which ones I should try?
