I'm considering buying a 22-27 ft sailboat and crusing Lake Meade for 2-3 weeks at a time anchoring in remote bays. Liveaboard, camp out, hike, fish, hunt. Does anyone out there have any experience with this scenario? I don't want to be on the Great Lakes or the ocean at this point.

Wow... there are so many. Lake Chelan up here in WA State is 55 miles long, stretching almost to the Canadian border. Lake Chelan Interactive Map | Frommers.com (click on Satellite view)
It's fun tucking into the base of a creek or waterfall. The lake can be deep, and in the afternoon, winds might come whipping down the lake at 25-30 MPH. So if you are not heading south, yo want to be tucked in some nice little spot before maybe 3 pm.
If you are getting a trailerable boat, I think there are clubs/forums for that and those people would know the greatest places...
Chelan is Washingtons largest Natural lake I believe...
