Welcome here! I highly doubt anyone thinks you are an ass. Excellent work!

Re: So What Do You Do At Night?
At night I want to sleep, and I sleep like a log. My kids never ask for tv or movies, there's fishing at night, there's going out in the dinghy at night (with dad) which the kids like though my 5 year old keeps asking about "Great Whites" and my 10 year-old keeps asking about doing a night dive, there's books and card games... so far I haven't exhausted their diversions... not sure yet what I'll do when I do

Re: So What Do You Do At Night?
If you do kindle, buy two per person and put one in food saver sealed vag as a spare. The kindle charging system does not like the marine environment and will die after 6 mo to a year. Also be several charging cords for you devices as the will corrod over time and 12v charge adapters

Re: So What Do You Do At Night?
Humans were not designed for 9-5 work and waking up to an alarm clock. When you finally start full time cruising your body sleeps when it's tired and wakes up when you've had enough sleep. If your in the tropics with early sunsets your hormones kick in and meletonin starts to prepare you for sleep so yes down here most everyone is down for the count quite early compared to your land life back in the higher latitudes, that's normal. You simply cycle with the sun the way you were designed to.
Pretty hard to get bored with all the really nice cruisers to visit with and forget about DVD s very few folks use them. Really big hard drives that will download hundreds of movies in an hour is the way to go and most cruisers share them like we used to share books years ago. If you live an active lifestyle and are hiking or swimming most days you are quite happy to see the sun set.

Re: So What Do You Do At Night?
OK, this thread has me wondering, since so many people say "kindle"
When you say kindle, do you mean "ereader" or the actual Kindle?
I opted for a Nook when I bought my ereader - the Kindle (at that time anyway) didn't support the .epub format
I love my ereader. I love reading, it has replaced watching TV, which I think is a good thing.

Nah, but the subject of the thread sounded a little nefarious to me.
I guess letting your mind wander is another thing to do at night

That should be posted in the "How to make money while cruising" thread.

Re: So What Do You Do At Night?
LOVE having my Kindle (yes, a real Kindle Paperwhite) at night and I tend to read a bit just before I go to bed. I read a book every few days so I'm grateful for Amazon putting books up for free regularly. I have over 1000 books on my Kindle and more on the cloud so I can read for a few years without running out.
As a family, we also love to play games or watch movies. When we cruise for a few weeks (we are not liveaboards yet), we will bring 2-3 movies with us. Last year we brought the Jaws series since it was the anniversary and we were on Martha's Vineyard. I'm thinking this year we may do the Die Hard series.
But honestly, like others have said, by the time the sun goes down, we've gotten the kids to bed and we've made sure we're set for the night, sleep comes quickly. Sometimes too quickly!! LOL

Re: So What Do You Do At Night?
Have a new wife. She's Chinese so we both have much learning to do. I speak not much Chinese and her English is better than my Chinese but at less than kindergarten level. Every day is an adventure and definitely not boring. No chance to ever get bored again day or night.

I bought a kindle once, but I really mean the kindle software from amazon. I have a half dozen devices and can have my books on all of them.
