Ha; not really. I think 'lurkers' are certainly seen in a negative light -- perhaps in a voyeuristic sense -- but I think they're mostly harmless and probably just don't want to get themselves skewered by the likes of us

You remind me of a still vivid memory from my youngun days at this university bar when all the guys suddenly lined up along the railing to the dance floor after the announcement came for last call. I had to ask a friend what they were doing. She laughed at my naivety That's not to say I was all sweets and innocence, but I just found the men kinda funny in a pathetic way.

Both types are here I welcome both, read both.
Both types are harmless, although you can almost tell what some of the spewers will say about a certian thread. Some of it is comic relief. Haha

I guess you could call me a lurker (or just one of those guys that speaks up when I have something useful to say.....lol)
As a lurker with an interest in this topic, I have read every one of your posts in this one and I still put on a smile over your professed love for Joy!
At times, your extreme independence is scary, but intriguing none the less. So much so I think I'd like to have a coffee or something if our paths ever were to cross. I'd love to try and figure out why your best friend is a boat and not a dog! or heaven forbid..... another guy!

Flyingnut, what a beautiful thing to say. There are good lurkers out there after all. I'd enjoy a coffee with you any day. So what is it that interests you most about this thread? And do tell why is independence in a woman "scary"? I encounter that often and it's befuddling. I actually came into this thread late in the game and only started reading the first 600 posts last night. I have no recollection of when or what got me started, but it seems it had something to do with how it's so hard to find women who enjoy sailing or cruising as much as the guys do. Maybe it's in the water around here, but I am surrounded by so many who love it. Passionately. Now I have two sailboats. Love is what we make it.

that shizzle runs deep! Especially among the wealthier and older crowd. . .

Once you combine looking for an attractive mate (of whatever gender and preference) who

actually **enjoys** life on a boat despite the required sacrifices of home comforts and social connections

**and** is willing to put up with all our baggage and BS

boy does **that** make for a rarified pool to choose from!

At least for those actually looking for a deep and meaningful relationship between equals.

Which in itself is IMO a pretty tiny fraction of those looking for any sort of companionship at all.

That's sorta right, and it's far easier, if you are unencumbered, to stay that way.

As to the joys of commitment, if you catch the opportunity with a rare one, it can be a lovely trip.
