But Andreas, do i understand you right if i say you don´t know who will follow you over the atlantic. And after that you are alone and your friends will sail with you for a week or two.
How much do you want for 2 persons to cruise with you for a week? (pm me)

Yes. 7 friends of mine have shown interest in coming across the Atlantic, but it's not clear yet exactly who. From the looks of it, I'll have a great crew. Ideally I'd like for us to be 6 people on the trip. Then we have enough people to run three shifts.
My real stretch is the sail from Norway to Gran Canaria. In particular it looks like the sail from Northern Spain to Gran Canaria will be somewhat tough to find enough people for, but we'll see. I'm optimistic that something will materialize. I have a few friends that are interested, but it's always tough to fit it in with work, especially when I don't exactly know where I'll be, so it's tough to book tickets to and from places in advance.
If anyone on the forum is interested in sailing for a week or two, let me know

Put me on the maybe list for UK to Portugal.
I'd expect to pay for flights and rations OFF the boat.
Low on experience but wise/scared enough to take the off-shore watches and raise the master as needed.
I'll have no time limits and have done a couple of cat days in force six, touching eight off the Isle of White, shallow and choppy.
Give me a fortnights notice. LeHavre/Cherbourg/Channel Isles also in reach.

By the way, there's a car/lorry ferry from Santander, Spanish North coast, to UK every week, walk on passengers shouldn't be a problem. Goes into Weymouth I think, good rail and coach links to London, Bournemouth and Southampton Airports for onward.

Heya Andreas...good luck with your trip....we might get to meet you in the Caribbean...our boat is in the BVI and we head back there (from London) at the beginning of October. We plan on spending from Oct through February seeing the Windward and Leeward islands before heading across to the Canal and the Sth Pacific....Hud we might get to meet with you as well!!!

Hi. I'd seen the miss-m name a few times and not spotted the Southampton UK.
We are moving house this weekend to the banks of the Itchen just upstream of the Northam Rail bridge. Limited air draft!
Boat house and old landing stage on the river and a nice house across the road. It will get me started seriously on sailing but I don't have the funds to go 34+ Cat this year but I can do a bit of theory and practical training in the meantime.
As I've offered before to Soton's if I can be of any help, being local, give me a call. And if you need a day crew I'd be happy to come along.
There are a couple of Prouts on the opposite bank to you I believe, have you been in touch. Talia, 33'? Cat with the blue sail cover, went off to Ireland a few weeks back, should be back by now.
And the Boat Show next week.

Hi Michael,
Excellent. I'll keep a few extra beers in the fridge I haven't put down concrete plans of when I'll be where, because right now I'm focusing on the sail down south. Once I get across to the Caribbean we'll see if our courses don't cross.

I do and I don't, it depends on if I can tap into unsecured wi-fi networks around where I am.

Latest report: I'm in Egersund on the south western coast of Norway. We were a bit unlucky and tore the jib on the first night. It was an old sail that had been repaired and strengthened, but when a sails time is up, well, then it is up.
Right now I'm waiting for a good weather window that will allow me to sail to Amsterdam using just my main and gennaker (since I have no jib). Right now late Sunday/early Monday looks good. Then I'll high-tail it to Amsterdam and get my sails sorted out.
I've ordered a new jib, that should arrive next Saturday if Gideon can pull it off. He has been great and is a huge support in these times. I don't think I'd be setting sail if it hadn't been for the support he's been giving me.

78 knots here in Ohio when Ike went through, our two ply 10 oz jib is toast.

I'm sorry to hear that. My sail looked very similar to yours when I got a proper look at it in the morning.
Still, I'd rather it happened here than in the middle of the Atlantic.
