Sea Tow or Vessel Assist

I have Vessel Assist but am wondering if Sea Tow is the same or better. Anyone have an opinion on this?

Totally depends on your location; in general though on the west coast VA is better IMO

I don't think SeaTow has a boat on Catalina island but Vessel assist does for example

Re: Sea Tow or Vessel Assist

We have both here in San Diego, which is why I am wondering.

Yeah but I'm willing to bet there are more Vessel assists

VA' whole west coast radio operation is in Newport Beach they are in every little po-dunk port on the the coast; dana point newport like I said catalina as well as MDR oxnard etc

If you get stuck at avalon you wanna wait for one seatow guy to come 100 miles or one of five VA guys to come 20 miles to get you?

Is your boat trailerable? Cuz then I'd look at lakes you frequent too and just see who's around I think their service and costs are comparable but I will say I was real happy with BoatUS insurance and they are all tied together with VA too so it was a no brainer for me in LA In FL I think SeaTow is a lot more prevalent

Sea Two has good coverage here in South Florida. They'll go into the Bahamas to retrieve a boat.

Check you insurance policy as some include vessel assist/tow. Our policy has a 2 grand towing allowance. So we can call have ever is in the area. Might wnat to added to your insurance policy?

Even with that I would STILL carry separate towing

#1 Filing *any* claim on your boat insurance can and likely will cause your car and home insurance premiums to increase

#2 without Vessel assist or ST 2k is REAL EASY to blow through I got towed 10 miles off Los Angeles and it was nearly a grand (paid by VA)

At least if you had VA you could go 50 miles for free before your insurance ever kicked in and to me the $100 they charge is forgettable 'throw away' money For me personally I'm at least a decade ahead of the game on that deal

Agreed. You can blast through 2 grand rather quickly. I think Sea Tow down here is $125.00 a year. Well worth it.

Check your cruising area. They both have maps of coverage on their web sites. We have both since we cruise a bit of everywhere and in some areas it's one, in other areas it's the other.
