Sailing Yachts with owners/masters cabin.

I'm looking for a yacht, 40ft or under for extended cruising. Something that has a large cabin with a decent part walk around bed in it.
I was taken by the older Bavaria 390 lagoons but haven't found one in a decent condition yet. (All have wanted the teak decking replaced)
There are a few older Moody's which have a stern cabin with a centre cockpit.
And a more modern lighter Beneteau 393's with a forward offset double with heads.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to what other boats I should be looking at?

Howdy!

What follows is written in a friendly tone of voice and with the sole intent to help.

Whenever I see a post asking about a boat or "help me find a boat that…" the first question that enters my mind is:

"What is your budget?"

With an adequate budget (funds or "asking price range") one can find a solution.

Without the adequate budget, it is asking folks to name what they would want, without necessarily any real fit for what you can buy.

My simple suggestion: Name the budget available for the purchase of the boat or the maximum asking or advertised price you would seriously consider spending.

Ask folks here to spend that amount for you, virtually, of course.

Yup, a budget would've been handy. So I have up to £70,000 (€97,700 $111,100)
I don't want to buy a project boat, I've been there and done that before. I want something that'll be ready to go with the minimum of work.
I know that any boat will need something that a new owner deems necessary but its the liveaboard ability I'm mainly looking at.

For that money, I like the Beneteau 393 from the mid 2000s in very good condition--very commodious and sails well.

You might want to look at the Nauticat 40 models built in the 1980's (S&S design). (There are usually several in the Med.)

They would likely meet the live aboard criteria you describe, but may be somewhat over your budget for a non-project boat unless you get lucky or the market continues to soften. [e.g., off-season...]

Two questions: where do you expect to be cruising and have you thought about going larger rather than smaller as boats have a tendency to shrink with time.

If you can go up one foot to 41' LOA (No Bowsprit!) then the Cheoy Lee 41 is a great option for you. I have a link to the layout on my blog here.

My Jeanneau DS 41 has an aft cabin, beam to beam, under the cockpit with full sized bed. There is adequate walk through port to star. but not much head room once you are in the bunk ( we just don't get up suddenly). Not really a side entrance bunk, but there is a step on either side so you aren't climbing in from the foot. It's a fast hull, easy to sail, and comfortable. FYI, we have it in the SunSail fleet, and it is always the first 40 footer to book, even though it only has two sleeping cabins.

Replaced? Because of warpage, swelling, missing slats, or breakage? Because if its just old and grey its easily restored to its original luster by washing with soap and then re-oiling it. That's the point of teak.

The decking was old and grey but it was also very thin and had voids behind the what seemed just a thin veneer of teak.

Catalina 40, C&C 37+, various center cockpit boats will all have aft cabins with centerline beds. Bene 393 has at least 2 configurations.

Thanks for all the ideas gang. There's a lot of boats I'm not familiar with (being in the UK) but I'm still looking.....

There is an issue with a problem with centre cockpit boats that may be a problem...
If you have a solar panel/radar arch on the stern do you have problems getting on and off the stern of the boat particularly when mooring stern too.

Is it more difficult to jump on and off the stern without taking lumps out of your noggin?
