I've been doing a lot of research for stuff, really like the specs on the new 4G broadband radar Lowrance has out using a CW beam to help increase the asmuth accuracy.

I've also been looking at Raymarine and Garmin, not sure which brand I want to go with right now, but kind of getting an idea of what all I will need to get setup with a good plotter and sounder/radar setup.

One thing I do like with Ray Marine is it can communicate with your engine controls and monitor them from the plotter, as well you can install sensors in your ice boxes to monitor the temps.

Also looking at new electrical panels, although the solar system in the boat already seems to do a pretty good job.

We will just have to see what I come up with.

yeah I'd say start the wish list but don't buy till you've been on the boat a while and you know what you really need.

The yanmar is not electronic it is the last year (04 ) of mechanical injection. None of the issues that are currently happening with the newer engines. The current radar is 24 mile b/w garmin. The electrical panels are near new. Or did you mean add more solar panels and a wind generator?

I know it is the mechanical, I mean the sensors on the engine can be monitored from the plotter.

As for the panel I mean the wood panel with all the switches in it, I want to get all that gear set up so it has individual breakers so the circuits are more isolated.

I was figuring installing a full on panel there that would move the current 110v panel up to the same location to help keep it from getting wet if water comes splashing down the companionway. Also moving everything to that location will just make it a lot easier to see.

Going to see how the solar panels hold up as is, and going to add a wind generator. We will see if that is enough to do the job.

When it comes to Radar, don't get me wrong, the garmin is a good unit, it is just the Lowrance is better.

The Lowrance has a 2.6° beam width where as the Garmin is a 3.7° this is because of the CW technology, doesn't sound like a lot, but it gives you a whole lot more clarity in what you are seeing. Its almost 1° better accuracy.

OK however you do remember that those 12 volt switches are all individual fuse switches. Next time you are here i will go over the entire electrical system with you so you can see what the project you are contemplating will entail so you get all, the parts you will need to do that job
