Recommendations for Marina on SE Coast of Florida

Hello Everyone,
We are looking for a family friendly live-aboard marina in southern Florida for the month of November. Anyone have any favourites?

This is difficult to answer becuase there's such a variety of opportunity at great differences in cost. How about narrowing this down by mentioning your priorities regarding cost, beach access, shopping, wilderness, transportation, snorkeling, big city, rural..... list some features that you would like.

A marina with a casual, family friendly feel. Close to amenities and not too far inland would be better. Cost is always a factor but one month will not force the sale of youngest daughter.

Did see a place for $2400 month which did take my breath away...

Looking for a place which would be comfortable for us to spend a month while preparing to head offshore. Stuart to Miami is the target area.

Thanks

Well, not giving a more specifics of what your want forces a longer answer, but here goes. Starting with the Vero Beach Municipal Marina (moorings at around $13-14/day or slips for more $),- free busses to beach and shopping...malls , small town, nice parks and beaches. Cooley's Landing in Ft. Lauderdale,- up the New River at <$50/day, downtown Lauderdale....Bahia Mar,- more $ than Cooley's Landing, but pool and Beach right there. Marina Bay Resort,- best price in Lauderdale if you can get under the I-95 55' fixed bridge, but you would need some transportation...rental car? In the Miami area I would choose one of the Marinas at Coconut Grove Like the Miami City Marina that is there. Public transportation is available from here to all in Miami, but it's a big city and a little cumbersome because of that.

We spent a week at Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove in 2010 We enjoyed it very much, restaurants and groceries close by and public transportation. I believe it may be the same marina Capt Force mentions above as Miami City hall is on site. It used to be the base for Pan Am Flying boats lots of old Pics in the offices.

I believe that a location in between Del Ray and Stuart would better suit the budget. Any further recommendations?

Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove, a TINY town surrounded by Miami. Right on Biscayne Bay, which is beautiful to sail, and an easy sail to the Keys.
