Recomendations for Puerto Rico

Can folks recommend a good/safe/reasonably priced marina in Puerto Rico and Vieques ?
Will want to stay for about 5 weeks will be off the boat for 3 weeks to head back to the states to straighten some things out.

Are the marinas there 220v Euro or US ? Our boat is 220v Euro and not sure what's required.

Thanks

Puerto Del Rey Marina. We stayed there for a few weeks and it was great. Nice people, great food, convenient... we really enjoyed our stay here!

Just curious - what are the slip fees there? It doesn't list the rates on your link.

$0.95 per foot per night per foot. Electric is metered at $0.24/kW (they have 220 or 110 available), water included. cable TV and wifi and at the dock.

Re: Recomendations for Puerto Rico

Thanks for that info. I've been reading Passages South, and hope to cruise through the DR and Puerto Rico. Never know when a marina might come in handy along the way.

Re: Recomendations for Puerto Rico

If you are going thru the DR read up on the extra fees that are expected.
Also contact papa on your VHF as he owns the anchorage and can supply you with every thing and I mean everything . I saw him and his sons deliver fuel and extra barrels for fuel storage. He has supplies ,fresh water and can be a taxi for you.
The mooring fee is $2 per nite . Again be aware of the military extra fees and all of the people that are officials of the gov't . It would be good to have a working knowledge of Spanish . Also offer the people that come on board a soft drink or bottled water. And above all be very care ful this is a third world country.

Re: Recomendations for Puerto Rico

I have my boat at Sealovers Marina. I would say that it is probably the cheapest along the east coast. But it also has the least security in place. Though in five years I've never lost a thing or had any problems. But there have been some minor thefts from other boats. I think it is all 120 volts. Puerto del Rey is far the largest and has the most facilities, shops, etc. No matter which marina you choose, if you want to see any of Puerto Rico you'll want to rent a car. PM me if you want more information.
