Pray for the Panhandle

This one is going to be bad, I hope for the best, but it’s likely to be the worst the Panhandle has ever experienced, and it’s not known to be a wealthy area. People will be hit hard as most don’t have good Insurence, more mobile homes than mansions.
I don’t know how we can help, just hope for the best

Re: Pray for the Panhandle

Watching this one closely. I have cousins in PC and more farther inland.

A couple of days ago this was forecast to make landfall as a Cat 1 or weak Cat 2, now it's a solid Cat 4. Not good.

Looks like Albany will get some of this as well.

My Son who just got over being run over by a hit and run driver, lives in Albany. I’m hoping it’s mostly spent by then.

Preaching to the choir, but this is why one prepares for the worst.

Certainly hope you're not there, and that your boat makes out OK.

Re: Pray for the Panhandle

The last time I looked they were predicting a thirteen foot storm surge on average. The key work of course is on average. Some places will see worse.

Really sorry to hear that. Did they catch the driver?

Latest seems like Albany will get a lot of rain and a good bit of wind. Probably some power outages. If your son is stuck there without power I've got a portable generator he's welcome to borrow.

Re: Pray for the Panhandle

All those folks who built on the sand spits... almost zero chance. The news I was reading states that the panhandle hasn’t had a category 4 since 1870 something!!!!!

Warmer waters... more fuel for the cyclone engine and more frequency.

He will be fine I’m sure.
You in Albany?
They caught the driver pretty quickly, haven’t even arraigned him yet, and I don’t know if they will do anything.
I’ve come to grips that whatever they do or don’t do to him is irrelevant, it’s not going to change anything.
If your near Albany, then you know how it is there.

The Panhandle to my knowledge has never had a Cat 4, not since data was recorded of course.
Camille in 69 was worse I think, but didn’t make landfall in the Panhandle, but I remember it tore up the Panhandle and west, bad.

Re: Pray for the Panhandle

We have friends who just hauled their boat in Panama City...
We’ve only visited the area in our 16’ Airstream but it is one of my favorite places!
It is frightening to contemplate the damage.
We wish everyone the best.
