Place to pull out boat in sea of cortez

I need to pull my boat out to check shaft and propeller. My boat is in Santa Rosalia. It is a catamaran with 26 ft. beam, 45 ft. long and weighs 12 tons. I have had work done in Punta Penasco but looking for a place closer. San Carlos/Guaymas? Name-phone number? Any suggestion appreciated. Have a nice day.

Contact Gabriel at Marina Guaymas. Here is the phone #... (622) 221-7200

Also the website... Marina Guaymas | The Best Rates You Can Get

They have the equipment to pull your Cat. They do it all the time. It is the yard we use. Best prices in the area.

Cheers! SV Sailfish

Re: Place to pull out boat in sea of cortez

Gabriel's in Guaymas can't haul your cat due to your beam. BUT, the commercial place next door can, and the travel lift will take you across the dirt road to Gabriel's. The commercial yard is used to hauling big metal shrimp boats - they aren't going to treat your cat like a yacht because they don't know how or care, so beware. Also, please realize you are last priority - you may wait a week or more with them telling you every day that they'll haul you the next morning, so don't make tight plans. If you can use Berkovic's (spelling?) in La Paz, you'll be a happier guy.

After 20 years in and around the Sea of Cortez I would concur with VivaBob. The ONLY place haul a yacht as wide as yours would be Bercovich in La Paz. And, that experience would be interestingly primitive but they are careful.

That is soon to change for the better at Bercovich:

Should be ready by the end of this year and will be the largest in Baja I believe.

Re: Place to pull out boat in sea of cortez

I would like to thank all of you for your responses! Our experience on the place next to Gabriel's was just like was said! He quoted $70.00/ft. and he could not do it until manana! (you know the joke. "Manana" does not mean "tomorrow", it means "not today". Do not get all ruffled up on this comment. I am a Mexican citizen, so I can say all kinds of sh-t about Mexico and Mexicans.
We have been in contact with Gabriel and this is how it stands at the present time. He has to repair his trailer. This is what he uses to take out boats as wide as ours (25-26 ft.). I believe FONATUR and Gabriel's (Marina Guaymas) lifts can handle up to 18'-21' beam. He was hoping to have it ready by June. He said he had 3 boats that had called and then us. We are encouraging him to have it fixed as soon as possible. I will keep everyone posted as things develop.
We are also considering Barcovich in La Paz, but that puts us very far south from the California/Baja California border where we reside, but La Paz is a great place! We might not have a choice. Have a nice day.

There is a newer spot south of Loreto you may try

Puerto Escondido Marine | Boat Services & More

Not sure for certain he can fit 26 beam but looks like it.

The standard 50T travel lift at Puerto Escondido can't haul a 24ft beam Cat.

Re: Place to pull out boat in sea of cortez

Happy New Year everyone! We are still waiting for Gabriel to "hear" from his welder. Now that all the end of the year partying is over, we can get back to working on our boat. It is still in Santa Rosalia. Con el favor de Dios, we will be there the end of January to do some maintenance. Take care, Have a nice day.

Re: Place to pull out boat in sea of cortez

Latest response from Gabriel is that the trailer will not be ready until April or May. As far as I have been able to investigate, this leaves La Paz or Puerto Penasco. Talk about opposite ends about 800 miles apart with variable weather at any time! Well. I wanted a boat and adventure.
