Panama Red Frog Marina

Ok, I'm super easy dude, but the marina is trying to garnish my wages for working on a friends boat. That is going to far for this cruiser.

I wrote a long review on my blog, but if you are thinking about coming here... Don't! There are better marinas that are cheaper and treat their customers well.

The jist of it is:

The owner kills local dogs with rat poison and has admitted to it (even killing a locals pet)

They treat the two or three mega yachts like they are god (but don't provide them with any place to work) at the expense of cruisers

The new manager straight up told me, a paying customer that: "Red Frog Marina is a money making business" was his reason to take my money for not doing anything. I will be leaving here asap after 3 ok months.

They don't tell you about all the great independent restaurants around because they want you to eat at their over priced poor quality food restaurants.

They don't take good care of peoples boats who leave them here. Tarps are all ripped and never replaced or fixed, they only wash your boat just before you get here.

They pay their dock workers $2/hr and charge them out at $10/hr.

Basically money and image comes before quality customer service.

The docks are nice, it is close to a beach, and the internet is decent. They build new showers, but they don't clean them properly. So not all bad, but the other marinas here from our experience do a better job of customer service (and they are full because of it, red frog is not full).

Anyways I've been biting my tongue, but I was militaristicly told that I needed to have a meeting by days end.... Or what I'll have to go on the hook. I think now that the head is fixed I will anyways.

Re: Panama Red Frog Marina

Hi Everybody!

I'm new in the forum but not from the boats. I've been cruising and working on boats and yachts for like 40 years.
I'm the new manager at Red Frog Marina as of about 2 months ago. I'm sorry to hear of this cruisers bad time here last September.
I'd like to let everyone know we are certainly happy to greet any cruisers here now. First of all, I happen to love doggies! I would never let anything happen to them here on my watch!
We have a new fuel dock open with gas and clean diesel.
We will be very happy to give any recommendations on any of the good restaurants in the area.
We have 20 feet plus draft coming into the marina and 11 feet at the fuel dock.
If there is anything we can help you with we will certainly do our best to do so. We have a security guard on duty all night every night and a free water taxi every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday that departs the marina at 9:45 AM to Bocas Town and returns at 1:00 PM. For any other details please feel free to contact us any time!
Come on over and see us, you won't be disappointed!

Re: Panama Red Frog Marina

Good to hear they have a new manager. Sounds like they needed it!

Can you tell me where Red Frog Marina is, please? Which side of Panama?

Thanks

Mark
