One Lucky Guy

I've read a lot of posts where the spouse, significant other was not exactly enthused about living aboard and cruising. So imagine my surprise when my fiancé of 15 years told me yesterday that when she retires in about 2 yr, she wants to sell everything to go cruising!!

I'm currently repairing and upgrading the entire boat. It's expensive but not a single comment except for "what else do we need?"

Her daughter will take care of the dogs although I'll miss them sorely. While gone, we will hire an architect to design a retirement home for when we can no longer sail. My lady has property in rural Kentucky.

I know this is boring to most of you but I just can't believe how lucky I am.

May all your dreams turn out this well.

Rich

Congrats! If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad.

No Tager it's something that I've dreamt about but never figured on happening. Family and all that. I never wanted to go to a nursing home where the only thing I could talk about were tv re-runs.

Did you say "fiancé of fifteen years"? If so you need to ahead and marry her.

Then again, maybe this is a clever trick on her part to get you to finally tie the knot.

Ann I could not agree more. So after 15 years living together, I guess I have a keeper. In another few months we will officially get married. We live in Florida which does not recognize common law marriage, but as far as I am concerned we have been married a long time The biggest problem is counting anniversary's . Do we start from the time she moved in or the time we make it legal?

If you're as smart as you seem you know you will need to celebrate both.

I've offered in the past but neither of us is big on religion and kinda figure its none of the governments business. We've bought and both wear our wedding rings. Besides, I always thought short engagements were unwise.

As to tying the knot, our wedding rings are Celtic in design and we have mutual friend to provide a traditional knot tying ceremony if we can arrange it.

Thank you all. Make no mistake, I mess up, more often than I would like to admit. But this was such an unexpected surprize, I'm having difficulty absorbing it.

Actually the logical solution is to get married around the date she moved in January, which happens to coincide with both our birthdays. No forgetting that way!

You are lucky. Just watch out for those horses in Kentucky, they are dangerous!
