I agree. Boats have become less troublesome in the same way that cars have. Industrial design is simply better now that it's ever been. My car, a Toyota, is an unbelievably solid bit of engineering which would make a Porsche engineer proud. Though aesthetically I'm sure it would make a Ferrari industrial designer mutter colourful oaths under this breath....

That being said, some of the classics are in top shape because they've been a labour of love for their owners. They've benefitted from new materials & finish technology. If you keep up the maintenance programme it's far easier to own a classic now than it was when they were new builds!
