1. Have all mail that can be delivered electronically sent that way by default. This includes bank statements, rates notices, billing for
storage units and any other "regular" bills.
2. Ad hoc mail such as small packages can be sent to the nearest Licenced Post Office as Poste Restante mail. Be sure to include the COMPLETE address of the LPO otherwise it may be returned by the
Australia Post sorting centres as undeliverable.
[Note: This is at variance with the rest of the world, where "Fred Bloggs, Post Restante YourTown, 2345 NSW" would be a valid address.]
3. Large packages usually need to be picked up from the vendor. There's no use trying to mail lead acid
batteries or a
windlass, for instance.
4. At a marina you can have items delivered to their main office for collection.
If you buy stuff off eBay be sure to tell the seller that they can't use a courier.
For regular items that can't be sent Poste Restante - such as driving licences, Medicare cards and car
registration renewals - have them sent to a relative's address and get them to scan it and
email you a copy until you get a chance to pick up the original. My brother does this for me. In fact even vehicle
registration is not an issue since most states no longer require a decal on the windscreen.
