1. Go to your nearest Post Office, get yourself a P.O. Box
2. Ask a friend to use her/his address
3. Use an office address service only for snail mail
4. Ask the Marina if they offer a service like this

Be creative

Re: NSW Australia Postal Address Boat Howto?

I understand there is basically no 'legal' way to do this (in NSW), anyone who would like to share their solution please PM me so it doesnt go on an open forum. None of the above will work for me. thanx.

Re: NSW Australia Postal Address Boat Howto?

Big problem and one I have been unable to solve in sixteen years of cruising the Australian coast. Once you decided to go live on a boat you became an outcast, an alternate lifestyler, a transient, a neer do well, beyond the pale etc. I found it easier to change my head rather than attempt to change perceptions and get any mail sent C/O the nearest Post Office. Most of the regular stuff like bank statements I now collect via the internet. Good luck.

Re: NSW Australia Postal Address Boat Howto?

1. Have all mail that can be delivered electronically sent that way by default. This includes bank statements, rates notices, billing for storage units and any other "regular" bills.
2. Ad hoc mail such as small packages can be sent to the nearest Licenced Post Office as Poste Restante mail. Be sure to include the COMPLETE address of the LPO otherwise it may be returned by the Australia Post sorting centres as undeliverable.
[Note: This is at variance with the rest of the world, where "Fred Bloggs, Post Restante YourTown, 2345 NSW" would be a valid address.]
3. Large packages usually need to be picked up from the vendor. There's no use trying to mail lead acid batteries or a windlass, for instance.
4. At a marina you can have items delivered to their main office for collection.

If you buy stuff off eBay be sure to tell the seller that they can't use a courier.

For regular items that can't be sent Poste Restante - such as driving licences, Medicare cards and car registration renewals - have them sent to a relative's address and get them to scan it and email you a copy until you get a chance to pick up the original. My brother does this for me. In fact even vehicle registration is not an issue since most states no longer require a decal on the windscreen.
