Not too soon? 2017 Liveaboard needed!

Hello all,
I am a native San Diegan...grew up in La Jolla, and have been in Oregon for 11 years. I will be returning to San Diego full time in 2017, and want to spend at least my first year back on a boat.
Always a pragmatist, I'm starting my search now..and from what I read, am glad to be planting seeds now. If anyone knows the best marina, a great deal on a boat in a liveaboard slip, or has some general tips, all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Steve
