Non-Nautical Aboard
I have some items aboard my liveaboard cruising sailboat that are non-nautical. I was wondering what others have aboard that seem to be unlikely on board a boat.
Here are mine:
...a pair of roller skates and a B-flat Clarinet are always with me cruising and I use them as often as I can! Well, the clarinet pretty much daily, but I need to search wide to find a rink while cruising.
What do you guys have that just doesn't seem likely on board a boat?

Re: Non-Nautical Aboard
Lived aboard in San Diego for many years with 4 pairs of skis, poles, parkas, snow pants, etc., could leave them on the dock for days and nobody would steal them! Some one took a photo of my wife and I in Mazatlan in our ski gear holding our skis on the dock in El Cid marina. Think she put it on a Christmas card! Phil

I had to do a short google search for "plushies". As it turns out my wife has a row of these on a shelf at the foot of our bed. I sometimes annoy her by posing them in precarious or vulgar positions. Cruising sometimes calls for innovative means of entertainment!

Well, there is an old saying that the 3 most useless items aboard a British warship:
1. A ladder
2. an umbrella
3. a naval officer !

Re: Non-Nautical Aboard
I have a bike, really doesn't fit well.. and all my work gear, which is like 2 bins worth and like 3 different kinds of work boots. My aft cabin seems to hold everything begrudgingly..

Re: Non-Nautical Aboard
Why is a clarinet non nautical?
Geez, you probably think a concertina isn't, too, although all dem olde jack tars did was play them until they invented the harmonica!
Now, throw in some golf clubs - now we be talin', mon!

I had to make a choice!
Here's my "nautical" concertina. I don't know if anyone considers the kalimba as nautical,- ....maybe the string of goat hooves? We also have an accordian and a didgeridoo aboard, but I had to make a choice!

Beading supplies, yoga mat, too many cameras (SLR, 2 small digital, video, go pro), guitar, essential oils, and the dog ( although she's a damn good boat dog).

Re: Non-Nautical Aboard
Hi, Hudson & wife of Hudson,
The display of your musical instruments aboard is simply great. I remember with such fondness some friends, with a BCC, who managed to have on board a banjo, a guitar, a mandolin, and countless spoons, so that non-musisies could do rhythm! It was just wonderful!
Enjoy, y'all. Too cool!
Ann
