New Zealand boatyard /Marina

I'm hoping to be in New Zealand by November where I plan to leave a 33ft cat for a year or so. Can anyone give info/recommendations regarding a good, cheap, secure place to leave her? Thanks

We had luck with Norand a while ago, haul out location was tide dependent but I recall plenty of cats there. Can't comment on price as I was not the skipper.

Auck is fine. Some moorings and westhaven was not all that expensive when we lived there.

Opua, Whangerei, etc. also good options.

I dont know if the words cheap and secure can really be used together for this. Are you after a marina or a mooring or maybe hardstand?

What he said ^^^^ re good,cheap, and secure.

Gulf Harbour is good but a bit isolated if you don't have a car.
Tauranga Bridge is excellent.

Another vote for Norsand. My wife and I spent 12 months there doing extensive repairs. Good facilities, very friendly, handy for the town (Whangerei) and competitive for price.

Westpark Marina at Hobsonville is a good reliable marina. Used to be one of the cheapest in Auckland and they have a secure hardstand.
Continue out west under the harbour bridge.
We lived aboard there for about four years when we were in New Zealand. The marina was slightly in decline but I think it has gone through a bit of an upgrade

+1 one more for Norsand in Whangarei if you want to leave the boat out of the water. Don't know what you consider cheap, I suspect a 33 would be ~NZD300-400/month. For another NZD50/month they'll send Nigel around a couple of days a month when it is nice out to open up all the hatches, air the boat out, and close it back up in the evening.

We've had excellent service and the prices are reasonable, but I wouldn't go so far as to say cheap.

Also Gateway hardstand further down the river.

Riverside has restricted space, so more short term.

Some of the other local marine businesses may have some hardstand space available.

Moorings upriver (Town basin) very reasonable by the year. I pay about $1200 for a 9.5m cat. The first year you pay in advance. Security is good as liveaboards around. Pay one of the locals to keep an eye on the boat.
Or me, as my cat is moored at the town basin. Beer money.

I would book pretty soon as Northern NZ space fills up in summer quickly, with all the cruisers avoiding the South Pacific cyclone season.
