Re: Month 20 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat

Money is very personal. Some may think you are poor or cheap. Others may think you are totally loaded and living like a king. It all depends on your point of view.

So I want to thank you...for sharing something so personal.

When I would get a new (to me) boat, my friends and family would often have only ONE question..."how much did it cost". I was always offended. They could have asked about the engine, the rig, how does she sail, where will I sail, or a billion other good questions.

I hope to follow you south one day, sooner hopefully than later. I appreciate your openness. And I won't ask how much you paid for your boat.

Be warned that new budget month thread going next couple of days. There’s a chance to be under budget depending on how Chase processes charges.

My wife thinks like you, and to be honest she is far more socially adept than I am, I’m often too blunt and not nice, but I don’t mean to be.
Anyway I don’t mind discussing finances, I learn from others too, better, cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing.
So I guess I’m too open when I shouldn’t be, but it’s not like I’m trying to impress, she is a 30 yr old Boat, and not a big one at that.
However there was a lot of stress for me quitting work, selling the house etc., cause I wasn’t sure I had enough money, and knocking it around here and listening to others budgets helped.

SB,
Like many others have already said, "Thank You". It is meaningful and helpful for those of us that are a year or so behind you, with plans of doing the same thing. I look forward to reviewing your post each month, and I appreciate you taking the time to share. I hope you continue.
