Re: Month 20 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat

1st. Thank you for the budget update. It is invaluable to some.

2nd " we are going to have to eat boat food " Come now, a girl can make some tasty if not nutritious meals on a boat like yours.
Next month spend a few shekels on a cook book if need be.

Keep the posts coming.

SB, G. Washington' home in Mt Vernon, Monticello for Jefferson if I remember correctly, Jamestown, some famous Civil War battlefield like Manassas, then u have some world class museums in Washington DC.

Did u do any exploring in the waterways of the Carolinas?

I don’t need any cookbooks. I know how to cook and we make great meals on the boat. Tonight’s boat food was grilled pork chops, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Doesn’t change that we wanted to get off the boat and go into town instead.

Maybe a book on satire is in order.

I like how u do your math on yin&Yang things. Took dingy in so now I saved enough money for Xx. Ha ha. I think the same way.

But really, they charged u 20 bucks to dock the dingy? That is like paying a cover charge to get into the bar. Outrageous

Headed that way now. We love DC and are doing a week there in a couple of weeks.

Met to do more Carolina exploring on way north but got delayed so now hope to do some more when we turn back around in August September.

Re: Month 20 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat

Btw - I’m all for joking batter on the thread, but I’m not interested in judgements of my boat lifestyle or criticism of it. It’s my life and money and I’ll spent it my way. The point of the thread series is to provide cruising planners something to base their money needs/wants on.

So please make the batter jokes easy enough the even a simple minded person me can get it.

I don’t understand the ‘1 knot and 300RPM’ after the bottom cleaning.

The 1 knot I get, but the 300 RPM? Do you mean your max, full throttle rpm increased?

SB , were u thinking I had offended u in post #20? If so, no harm intended. I often make my decisions similar to the way you do when you save money doing it one way and then taking that savings and using it another place as justification. Just struck a familiar cord for my way of thinking.

So, did I offend u?

SB, is it true they really can nail you 20bucks to land your dingy on the dock? That blows my mind.

If you want your dingy to be there when you get back, you gotta pay.

At least this marina lets you use the showers and laundry (I'm going to try to get the wifi password also). I've been at 2 in the past in the Chesapeake that didn't let you use the showers and one that didn't let you use the laundry (coin operated).

It goes to the whole it's easy to anchor out, but getting ashore is a different issue.

BTW there are also 2 free Portsmouth docks available here that are just a little further away.

don't think I even saw that till after I made the "joke" post

maybe the rain was getting to me as I wanted to go ashore (I didn't)

Re: Month 20 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat

If you do dine out I can recommend Hell’s Kitchen in Norfolk:

https://www.google.com/search?q=hell...&client=safari

We’ve been a few times and took other cruisers there. They liked it enough to go back and ordered the same items on the menu.

ETA: It’s an easy walk from the dinghy dock at the marina across the river from where you are. $6.00 or so for the dinghy.

Don't forget to fill your pockets with sweetener/sugar packets, and ketchup/mustard packets. That's a whole soup meal back on the boat! I like to go out to a diner for breakfast now and then to restock my pb and jam packets.

I'm writing this trying to be funny, but as I write it I realize I actually do these things...and now I'm sad.
