McCotters Marina Washington NC

I will hopefully be going down to look at a boat here shortly.
Does anyone know the marina at all and the type of folk that run it?
Hopefully if i buy the boat I will be mooring it there which seems a good rate.
Please don't post any grievances on the thread as I would hate to ruin a company on internet hearsay, but if you have any negatives I should know I would appreciate hearing them in pm.
Hope this is ok with the mods and if not please remove thread or posts as you feel fit.
I am confident on the boat itself but do not want to tie myself to a long term slip if the place is a pain. Though I will need a good few month to get the boat organised to move etc.

Hillbilly;

McCotters is run by decent people. It is a bit on the rustic side. The bathrooms, unless they have improved them since 2008, are not all that nice. Check out activecaptain - there might be more recent info there.

What kind of boat might you be keeping there? We had a boat with 5'3" draft there for a few months, but even in an outside slip we were often keel in the mud.

Thanks Witzgall, rustic suits me fine as long as they are honest.
The boat I'm looking at is 4' 9" draft.
I'm trying to convince "She who must be obeyed" that it will be a great experience living there. We are currently sat in mountains with the nearest neighbour half a mile away so I don't want her seeing a building site with no more view than the next set of chav boaters.
Plus I don't want to be constantly getting shafted for new rates etc or we have to move you cos the latest rich kid just got into town etc.
I emailed them last week and they responded in minutes. I'm hoping their attention to their clients is equally good in real life and the pics I've seen the place looks great.
Thanks again for the reply.

fyi, Dowry Creek Marina further east might fill the bill. A little more space, much nicer facilities (pool, clubhouse, etc, which is important to most "Admirals"), owner lives on site.

Thanks Tom.
I'll have a good look around when I get down there

Bought a boat there several years ago and the biggest problem I had was all the spiders. You hit the hay at night and get up in the morning and your boat would be covered with them.

We've spend some time at the Bath Harbor Marina which is still a little further east on the Pamlico River,- also rustic and wonderful people!
