marine insurance

We are a Canadian registered boat currently in Florida looking to change our insurance. We would like coverage for the Caribbean south to Trinidad. Would really appreciate recommendations. thanks!

Re: marine insurance

We are currently with Geico. Cruising the Caribbean, boat is on the hard in Trinidad for the hurricane season. We go through an independent agent and have changed insurance companies more often than I care for. Most companies raised rates last year following big losses from hurricanes. Some ceased Caribbean coverage altogether. Previously, Lloyds but they dropped everyone. We are required to be outside of the zone to leave the boat during hurricane season. There are two good yards in Chaguaramas, Trinidad. Power Boat and Peaks. High fences, razor wire, 24 hour patrol, nice people, good community, quality work, chandleries, live aboard, ammenities.

Trinidad is one of our favorite islands. Many great tours. Very inexpensive and good street food. Rain forest bicycle tour, monkeys, humming birds, fresh market etc.

Re: marine insurance

We switched to Topsail Insurance and love their customer service. Super easy to deal with even though they are in the UK. They even changed the terms and restrictions of our policy mid year to accommodate a change in our cruising plan.
