Marina slips in the keys

Hi all,
I have spent numerous hours scouring Active captain for marina's in the keys that have slips to accomodate 40' length and 5' of depth. with very little luck so far, preferably a live-aboard marina, any help /knowledge is appreciated.

A draft that's 5 feet is a lot for the Keys. You'll have to be careful and selective. Treasure Harbor at Islamorada and Key Largo are problematic unless it's a high high tide. You can expect to be on the bottom most of the time. What about Marathon?

Smugglers cove at snake creek is a possibility, in islamorada. Tight water at low tide though

Sunset Marina on Stock Island. Allows Live-aboards and has great depth. Skinny channel getting to it, but still plenty of water. We have a 5' draft and had no problems.

Burdines in Marathon is good. 1 or 2 slips unoccupied but may be booked. Call them and ask. It helps if you indicate a little more about what you want. Burdines is rather quiet. I doubt that Stock Island is. You might also the time to get to open water. Takes a while to navigate Key West harbor.

There's always Boot Key if you will accept a mooring.

specifically I have numerous family members who will use the boat and want somewhere that we can get fairly easy access to as we/they travel in from out of florida, but still have a fairly reasonable rate for a slip.

I'm currently on a mooring, too many pirates out there! as we will at times leave her unattended.

I would be open to slips further north if they cost significantly less.

Re: Marina slips in the keys

Boot Key harbor... everyone looks out for each other..... cheap@$450 and very protected.... there has to be a reason why hundreds of boats stay there... Marathon is a friendly town with real people and not some transient tourist rip off place ....
