Marina Near South Georgia

I am buying a boat up in N.C. and bringing it down to South Georgia. I am in Atlanta and want somewhere close to be able to head down on the weekends to work on it over the next few months before going cruising. I was thinking Savannah because this is closest to Atlanta, but people also recommended St. Mary's. I would greatly appreciate thoughts on the two locations and recommendations on good marinas. For Savannah I heard to check out Isle of Hope and Thunderbolt.
Thanks a lot,
Drew

Keep in mind if you spend 30 nights on the boat in one yr you area live aboard and subject to being fined or arrested.marc

Brunswick has a very nice municipal marina with floating docks. Looks well protected.

I live in the Atlanta area and keep my boat at Brunswick Landing Marina. This is a large marina, well cared for and the folks are great. Price is good and so is security. No prepay, or goofy contracts just pay by the month. Isle of Hope has Contracts in order to get decent pricing, but it is a nice place. The dockage is not affected by the crazy tide currents in the area. It's a 5 hour drive from Newnan to Brunswick.
Thanks
Ed

Well liveaboards are technically illegal in GA but I know a number of people that do so and haven't had problems yet. Also doubt anyone would actually be arrested for it if the authorities did crack down.
