Mail forwarding

We will soon be cruising and we are looking into mail forwarding services.
Will these services also forward medical prescriptions.

This is the best of them: Mail Forwarding Services at St Brendan's Isle

Concerning the forwarding of medical prescriptions, internationally that could be a problem, but if you talk to your insurance company and doctor, you should be able to secure a one year supply at one time. This is easy if you don't use your insurance to pay. Also consider getting the prescriptions filled in the country you are visiting, it will probably be cheaper.

Re: Mail forwarding

Within the USA I think you would be better off purchasing any subscriptions locally at a pharmacy, and outside the USA getting mail in many countries is too unreliable to count on getting prescriptions on time, or at all. I'm pretty sure that any major chain pharmacy, like CVS or Walgreens, will have you in their computer system and will allow you to fill the prescription, whether in Maine or Florida. It is often much cheaper--often a tiny fraction of the cost--to purchase prescription meds in other countries. Some meds are available over the counter that might be prescription here in the USA. So, make sure you have written prescriptions too--ones that are easily readable by any pharmacist.

Re: Mail forwarding

Justus,

We used St Brendan's Isle for six years for mail, packages and prescription meds to the Caribbean. They have no restrictions on shipping the meds out, and we never encountered any issues with Customs when they arrived. It could take 9 to 16 days for the mailings to arrive, but none were ever lost.

Re: Mail forwarding

Class II prescription drugs will not make it, to addresses outside the US. These drugs are pain killers/mood changer that are primarily opiates based; there are exceptions. You cannot buy a year's supply of these drugs, in advance; as per DEA regulations, your doctor and pharmacist will not allow it. Doctors and pharmacists must file a special DEA form, to account for the usage of these drugs. If you need Class II medications because of pain, long term sailing should be discussed with your physician. Mauritz
