Long shot Holland

I've found a sailing yacht just south of Rotterdam that I'm interested in. It's being sold by a broker who specialises in canal cruisers and my efforts to get some detailed information through emails have only received unhelpfully limited responses. I am 700miles/1000 km away so a long trip only to discover a " lemon" doesn't appeal. If there is a member of the forum in that area who could have a look? Not a survey, but just someone who could say that it's not rotten, the sails have got a bit of life left in them, the engine is not about to die on the spot. Would be happy to make proper recompense for time and travel.

Thanks for the welcome. In fact, for nearly a year, I've been an enthusiastic and appreciative consumer of so much useful info from the various forums.

Dutch brokers have a reputation for being difficult to deal with. (And not just because so few other people speak Dutch.) He may also be trying to get you to come look for yourself. Asking for help is a good idea. Wish I could, but we’re further from Rotterdam than you.

Re: Long shot Holland

Hello Doucede, I live in The Hague which is a 30 min drive from Rotterdam. I 'play' with seagoing sailingboats for about 30 years now so I do have some technical knowledge.
And I can make time for a visit.
Underneath you find my emailadress if you want to go on with this.
