Liveaboard Slips in Baja or North Cal?

I know live aboard slips are expensive and hard you come by in south cali. from sf down. Does any one know of any available and hopefully cheaper in northern Cali (like Eurika or Fort Bragg). Or maybe Baja? And what paper work would one need to rent a skip in Baja, ie.passport, vaccinations, etc...

Actually there are places in the SF bay where liveaboard slips are available. Marina Bay in Richmond for one. I lived there 3 years. Not a bad place, though the hood is just 1-1/2 miles away. It helps to show up in person. Plus other options further up the river/delta area.

Last time I visited Eureka, the marina's looks pretty full.

Thank you. I've heard in person our always best. That if they see you're a decent person they are more likely to "find" a liveaboard slip stashed away for ya.

Alameda,Ca. Liveaboard slips are sometimes available if you walk in and talk to harbormasters in person with a photo of your nice-looking boat. We're at Fortman Marina for less than $500 a month for a 36' slip. Alameda often doesn't get the fog of SF, a bonus.

The concept of not allowing live aboards doesn't exist in Baja....so Mexico is an easy and cheap place to live aboard. You have several options in Ensenada.

If you can handle a mooring and have a boat set-up for on the hook living (IE shower, solar or generator) then Morro Bay is a great place to live aboard. Friendly harbor patrol that LIKES you rather than harass you. Protected estuary. No waiting list for live aboards. Free easy parking. And costs....well try $79/mo for the live aboard fee added to the $250-$350 mooring rental.

That's awesome. What kind of paperwork would one men to do so? (passport or things like that)

The live-aboard slips are easily available in Baja. I currently have my boat in Marina De La Paz. Slip fees are not cheap, but the live-aboard option is only like $50 more per month. For Mexico you will need a passport, proof of insurance (Mexican), title to the boat, a Temporary Import Permit (TIP), and I think that is all. FWIW, La Paz is an amazing place to live. It is pretty warm at the moment, but the people are super friendly and the town is as safe as can be.

I had a boat in San Diego and the only requirement was that you have another address somewhere. Although I did not really live aboard many people from Arizona would come and stay for months.
