Question Liveaboard in Utah Lake

Greetings everyone.

I have been planning out a liveaboard 2 year adventure for the past year here in New England. I started out planning around bouncing back and forth between New England and Florida.

As time progressed I leaned towards starting from the Oregon coast and traveling between it and Anchorage. I have a friend in Utah who has been trying to get me to move out there since I was around 18(I'm 34 now).

Well now she has has brought it up a lot lately and I've decided I would really like to move out to Utah and still hopefully keep my liveaboard plans intact as much as possible.

Originally I had planned around a 28'(preferably because it's easily trailerable) up to around 32'(to keep prices down). However, water levels in Utah may have sabotaged that goal. Although they are trenching in areas now it would be a disaster if I was living aboard a sailboat and suddenly I couldn't dock anymore. For this reason I've opened up the possibility of living aboard a powerboat too. If anyone has any specific information regarding that I would love to hear it. I really would rather get a sailboat.

Now I had planned on eventually registering here, bu there are a few questions in particular which lead me to right now. I'm looking for specific information to Utah Lake as there is very little available online.

Utah lake State Park Marina and Lindon Marina are my two main priorities. I have the following question regarding one and/or the other:

  • How is black water taken care of?
  • Do slips have electric?
  • Do slips have fresh water?
  • Is it possible to over-winter with the boat in the water?
  • If over-wintering is not possible is there anywhere that will allow you to liveaboard on the hard?
  • what amenities could you expect living aboard on the hard in this area?
I guess that's it for right this second. Thank you in advance for any knowledge you might have in this area.
