Liveaboard in Perth, Australia

Hello,
I would enjoy meeting liveaboarders in Perth Australia who might help me get started. I'm completely new to living aboard but have a real yearning for it and will be in Perth for the next 36 months on a student visa. I look forward to meeting you all,
John

Hi John,
While I am not living aboard I am working towards it, and I am in Perth, currently moored on the Swan. You are welcome to catch up and exchange ideas.
Cheers, Emmo.

Liveaboard in Perth

Thanks Emmo! Good to know there are others from the Perth area on the boards. I was wondering about the best liveaboard marinas in the area and if you know of any 30+ foot sailers for sale now that I could install myself into soon. I just arrived in Perth four days ago. I will give a call and thanks again,
John

Whats your budget? A 20 or 30 year old 30 footer in need of a total rebuild will probably set you back in the region of 45 - 50,000. Nice boats at least double. Did a fair bit of looking around a few years back and slowly moved up sizes and ended up building a cat. Not a lot of choices for a pen, long waiting lists for all and bloody expensive. If you want to stay in the Swan river on a mooring you need a mast that drops as we have the pleasure of a bridge at the entrance that is only 7.4 meters. Can moor or anchor 30 or 60 minutes, by car, south however for more realistic prices.
Im just inland from Fremantle which is Perths port.
Lots of luck in your endeavour

Mike
