Respectfully. Yup. It's just you. Firstly this thread is titled with "Dating" not "Marriage" or "Deep Spiritual Understanding". Don't know how anyone more than a few feet away could judge us as you have. I am proud. And respectful. Feels like mutual love to me. Yes there is a money and support aspect to it. That's not so uncommon. A "forever" relationship might be nice. But it's certainly not a requirement.

Does "deep understanding relationship" even have a definition?

No worries. I am the very last one suggesting a forever relationship. But when it is good don't you do both want it forever... right? I was under the misunderstaing you were still not in any kind of a relationship, dating, sexing or other.. was merely communicating that the bar/mall/porn store/street(maybe I am telling too much) scene is not a fruitfull one except for the couple of hours.. just sayin'

I'm going to weigh in here. I'm a divorced male who just recently discovered a love....for sailing. IMHO, the best way to find a compatible mate is to start by doing the things you enjoy. Goes for both genders. If you're a live-aboard seeking a mate you ought to begin your search at the dock or yacht club or other place where water-lovers hang out. You'll know you're off to a good start with a common love for the water.

As for gold-diggers, aren't we all looking for some level of financial self-sufficiency in a partner? I think people of both genders consider this more now than in the past. It's part of the new reality of dating.

From my viewpoint it seems that the woman expects the man to provide boat, food, protection and understanding along with a healthy income...
Yet in this age of so called equality of the sex's if the financialy deficient male looks for the above in a woman he's a bum and a deadbeat...
Your a team supposedly... if you run outa money get yer arses in gear and work together to resolve the situation... don't just jump ship and go looking for fatter wallets..
And before the 'Knockers' start... no bitterness here... I've got life sussed but relationships are a two way street... so when the going gets tough get grafting... two eat as cheap as one and the work/money is out there...
Sadly though the easy out with a plane ticket home to Mom is too often the female way...
OK ladies... start kicking my butt

I don't really see that as contentious - nor a bad thing!, just reality.

For a LTR women are hard wired to value "security" and if they can't provide it for themselves then they want it from the fella and in the modern age that is mostly provided by (and defined by) money - whether folks of both genders like it or not (in ye olden days a large club was the big thing ).

The million(?!) dollar question is how both parties handle that issue..........IMO pretending it is not a reality a bad move. But, as always, YMMV.

There also seems to be a direct relationship between their looks and the amount of wealth they are looking for. I've also noticed a very strange thing in that as women age, instead of going grey, they turn blonde and get bigger boobs
I was going to leave this second part well alone - but can't resist .

Selling a new(ish!) boat is easier to a newbie offering a blank cheque (even if an IOU on future earnings), warm dreams and wide eyes than selling a boat with a few miles under the keel to someone who has learnt from own experiance that even a good boat is not cost free (even when surveyed ) and that some do turn into an expensive dissapointment. or a project .........despite claims to the contrary at the getgo.

Of course it takes some folks a while to realise that they are both no longer selling shiney new nor selling to the gullible - and that they are sitting on depreciating assets, which have already depreciated . and some folks never learn.......

Yeah, I know what you mean. I am lucky to be able to afford quite a luxurious lifestyle for one. To be expected to pay for everything of the other person as well means a drop in my own lifestyle.

(There might be some equality thing in it too where a little voice in the back of my mind says: someone could have worked that long but never saved a cent?)

Re: Liveaboard Dating

Here is the truth. I date a lot woman from 45 to 60 and the second question I most often hear is, What do you do? meaning how much money do you make? what I have run into in the last several years is the attitude of WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME? Not all woman mind you but dare I say most . They are of course the ones I dont date for long . Like it or not that has been my experience

How about the guy who came to check out my boat. Then wanted to sail around the world with me, but I had to get rid of my dog.

He is a woman magnet. Every woman wants to pet him. I should rent him out to all the single guys at the marina to get girls. Maltichon a white fluff ball.
