Thanks for the welcome and the crack on the knuckles. Thought I would try to lighten the mood and take a less serious angle having been married twice unsuccessfully I'm beginning to think it could be me, this doesn't mean I've given up but I do think I will wait until I am a little more set in my ways/stubborn. My earlier comment was a repeat of something someone once said while I was in the process of buying my current boat. Cheers and its great to be here.

Like so much of the advice you will get here, mine was not from first hand experience. I sheepishly need to admit I have never done any liveaboard dating, so really who am I to know LOL. Finding someone who loves you for your boat may possibly work just fine .

Anyway, best of luck .

1967 Oldsmobile 442 with a warmed up 455ci engine and a 4 spd. The original engine was supposed to be 400 ci. She was pretty fast. Oh, so was the car.

Re: Liveaboard Dating

Good sex is the best foundation for a long lasting relationship. Particularly when that relationship devolves momentarily into bare knuckle and thrown cutlery.
The best remedy for the bad days is real profound intimacy where the whole world beyond each others skin melts away.
If one loves boating then dating from aboard is the best way to speed through the frogs to find that prince(ss).

If you don't convince people that there is more to you than the things you own, they will might rely on your things rather than you. If you show off your toys, you get the same effect.

If you treasure and care for your boat you may have the skills to treasure and care for your partner. The question is, can you manage both?

pirate Re: Liveaboard Dating

One evening sat outside the bar at Shelter Bay with 3 Yanks and a dude from NZ the conversation got around to women... two of the Yanks (brothers) were bemoaning the fact that they'd got the boat with the idea of finding loadsa wimmen on tap..ladies love a sailor..
We were all over 60... shook em up a bit when I told them they'd have better luck if they went out and did something about it rather than sitting around bars with a bunch of other old farts moaning about it.
That applies to everyone really... get out of your comfort zone and explore... nothing comes to he/she who who sits on their a$$ and waits....

That is so true Boatman.
Being recently divorced, I got on a dating website just to meet sailors. I have met a couple of really nice ones.

My single girlfriends were bemoaning, that I had dates during the holiday and they didn't. They have been single for years. They did not want to take the risk.

I put on my profile sailor looking for sailor, and lots of people are interested. A few actually wink, or write, and even fewer meet.

It is not the boat, the car, etc, that floats my boat, but the actual person and their character.

Re: Liveaboard Dating

While I met my current wife on a ski slope, I awoke one morning to the sound of her sanding the headliner battens on the dock beside my boat... it was love at first sound! We've been married for nearly 20 years, lived aboard for 12 of them and settled into a life of unbelievable happiness together. Took us both a couple of trys with others to get it right but we both agree it was worth the wait! So, don't give up... even if it is for a good time and not a long time, go for it... you never know what it might blossom into.

Re: Liveaboard Dating

There's a reality that women will not admit to, and that is middle aged (and older) women to a large extent are looking for someone with money. There also seems to be a direct relationship between their looks and the amount of wealth they are looking for. I've also noticed a very strange thing in that as women age, instead of going grey, they turn blonde and get bigger boobs
