What area are you considering. Oriental has several.

Anywhere from Oriental and south to the SC border. If there were some north of that someone really liked I would consider that also. Thanks.

I've stayed at Whittaker Creek and Oriental Harbor.

I'm new to all of this but at first glance it seems Whittaker Creek is a cheaper deal than Oriental Harbor. What am I missing something there?

No, you're on target. Just telling you where I've been. Whittaker is better protected in storms, not quite as nice as OH. OH is basically in town with restaurant right there.

One more question, so if you wanted to live aboard in say Whittaker Creek, do you have to say thats what you're doing or you just pay your dock fees and do whatever you and your family want? Is there a difference in to the folks at the dock if your just parking your boat there as opposed to living on it for awhile?

I'm not sure. I'd just call them and ask. They are all very nice people. I was a "transient", meaning I was passing thru the area and stayed just a few days. I would advise against misrepresenting your intentions. You might find yourself on the hook!
