It is almost one year since Dan last posted on this thread, would be nice to know how he is making out I have lived very simply many times, othertimes I had money to burn and pissed away every penny. I think it is easy to be a minimalist when one is by oneself. To find another minimalist that you want to share life with is very rare in my belief. I may have blown one or two prospects in my past because I wasn't flexible enough. Now I think it will be near impossible to find a lady that would be willing to live with basicaly no comforts when in these later years it is more arduous to deal with cramped quarters and primitive facilitys.

"Adventure" is not too difficult to sell. Gotta look in the right places though. There's plenty of Euro girls backpacking their way across continents as we speak. American girls that appreciate simplicity are extremely rare (assuming you're from america), but this is a big planet. Luckily, for people like us, the farther you sail, the smaller the planet gets

one does not have to go that far to find minimalist single females. you males keep looking so hard you dont look under your own noses or in your own back yards, as it were..

I am planning on going this route of living aboard myself, just a few months to go before I am packing up and headed to Florida from Colorado. Have a 22' O'Day that I am going to spend some time sailing the Keys to gain some experience then hope to find a little larger of a boat and head over to the Bahamas. Dan's blog was interesting reading and can not wait to read more about his adventures.

My "rich big brother" who made alot more before the economy took a dump is around $2mil in debt, the value of his house has been cut in half....etc. . While he struggles by with a 6 figure income and everything he does is to keep the IRS off his back and keep his home I am quite comfortable at 2/3 the "poverty level" with 20-30% of my income going to gettign my boat ready to do what this forum is all about.....his poverty sucks alot more than mine does.
