Live aboard

Simple question I hope . I retire shortly and want to spend time sailing the med and winter in Limassol . I have a 46ft Bavaria . Is. a £15k pa pension enough to sustain this living simply in the med? Any advice appreciated

If you live at anchor and just want to cover living expenses, then I'd suggest from what I've read that it can be done.

If you are including the annual maintenance pro-rated on a 46' boat with your living expenses as well - and on on $15k per annum, then from what I've heard, it would be damn difficult over an extended retirement.

Doable for a one-year adventure if you can defer maintenance though.

Caveat: I don't know the med. I am consolidating 1000's of posts I've previously read. No actual experience implied.

Really depends on where and how you sail.. of the beaten track there's lots of free wharfs/jetties you can tie up to.. places like Marmaris, Kharis etc.. go where the charter herd go and the bills will climb.. also try and live as independent of shore services as possible power wise.. water is easy to get.. power not so much.
As for sailing.. go with the wind and keep the beating to windward as minimum as possible.. hell.. your retired.. What's the rush..
Its do-able.. £800 a month should keep you fed and watered with the surplus going in the 'Rainy Day Fund'...
Oh.. and stay away from English bars and restaurants..
Bludi expensive... the places the locals eat and drink at are much cheaper
