Re: Laundry Aboard While on the Hook

i use whatever detergent is available where i am anchored, and a bucket and plunger, then to squeeze out the soap before rinsing, i use the shrouds as a wringer-- twist the clothing using the shroud to make the material as dry as possible, then rinse out the soap remaining. vinegar also helps remove soap, if there is a problem. then i place on my boast topsoides and let the neighbors watch it dry.
if i dont feel lik e doing it myself, i take to flap n fold nearby, but then i have to count my items to make sure i get them ALL back.....

River C, that's what I was thinking, just stop by the car was and use the floor mat clamps!

That's a neat little hand cranker, I'm going to get one of those just to show off this summer while off roading with our expedition bunch! I think with a little planning, you don't need a dryer....but what about ironing my jeans and shirts???

Conceptually I really dig on that idea, but I already have a bucket onboard and a plunger takes up such little room. And the odds of either one of those two devices breaking is tiny.

To bring a new "device" onboard, especially something of that size, takes a lot of justification.

We had room on a 26' boat, pretty sure a Hans 36' might have a little more room. I used a bucket for years, worked just fine I must admit..

I have an 18 month old daughter on board as well; those little things consume a lot of real estate.

So if the bucket/plunger thing worked for you, why the switch out to the little wonder washer device?

I agree, but the Wonder Wash really does a much better job. There about the same size. But I'm not knocking old school.. Michael

From all that I have read, most end up tossing them.
