I have a 13m LOD Ketch and as I knew I would be doing a lot of singlehanding it was the right choice. Equally the Van de Stadt design was perfect for me. Notwithstanding that there are 'ketchs and Yawls" out there that I wouldn't buy. In short it is more than just the sail layout many other considerations will come into play. I hope whatever selection you make provides you with many years of enjoyment and adventures.

Spent most of the day in a Marina. Found a 1976 Islander Freeport 41' center cockpit (Robert Perry designed cutter rigged ketch.

Has new water maker, main sail, refridgerator and stove. Has 65hp Perkins generator, solar panels (2ea 135 watt), 400 watt wind generator, two radar systems, sonar, Auto Halon extinguisher, 300 gal fuel tank, 60# Manson Supreme Anchor with 250 Chain.

There are many more extras. The owners had been getting it ready for long offshore sailing but plans got changed.

What are your opinions on this boat?

Indeed, but it seems a nice design, good layout internally and to be in good order. For a long cruise I think it would be a comfortable boat.

It's the second Colvic I've looked at and I liked both of them. The other one needed some work internally to "freshen" the interior but I'd rather do that on an older boat then a newer one. Both the Colvic's were ketches.
