Welcome to give them a call
I'll be right thanks.

Like I said, I got a quote but they couldn't provide underwriters details or details of the mandatory 15m+ wreck removal and cleanup in QLD waters so that screamed run away to me.

Re: Insurance panic in QLD - what do liveaboards do?

The OP asks "what do liveaboards do?"

In my experience we don't usually have insurance, and find a haulout site that doesn't require it. The size of your boat would seem to make this difficult however because of the limited choices in hauling out.

I checked about five places in and around Brisbane before settling on Montys at Caboolture. They're currently full though, with at least three more yachts waiting to get in that I know of personally.

They can barely handle a 50'er and getting up the river requires a king tide if you have any draft at all. Fortunately for me I'm sailing a bilge keeler.

Club Marine insured her.
They insured her for the previous owner, just needed out of water survey which we had done prior to purchase.

Re: Insurance panic in QLD - what do liveaboards do?

Hi
Following this thread with interest as I am actively pursuing comprehensive policy thru a broker (Which is not a bad way to go, ie he explores options) but today was hit with his cover note that values the Hull at $160000, but the rig is only valued at a $1 ie total agreed value $160001. When I asked for a explanation, I got Quote "The valuation doesn’t give a break-up of the value of mast/spars/rigging, so we have to put a figure of $1 to get it through."
That was nice of em, what do you think.

Could try Brian Hepburn Insurance Marine On-Line based in NZ but he offers covers to Live-aboard sailors.

It would seem Brian Hepburn is an agent for northern reef/Edward Williams according to this post
https://www.ssca.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7601

It was also pointed out earlier in this thread that northern reef/Edward Williams are registered in Spain.
I see you are from Spain as well?
