I dreamed about "some day" being able to do this for about 20 years. The passing of my wife taught me that I had better start filling that bucket or it will kick me. In the 9 months since I have had one goal, and step one has been achived. I own a boat. Step two is to aquaint myself well enough with it to go where I want, when I want. Step three is to go there.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Don,

I just saw Kaleo listed on craigslist today:
1984 Aloha 34 Cruise Ready

I hope that all is still well with your plans, but then again if the survey came back poor or the seller is acting funny then it might be best to move on...

Regardless, best wishes on finding "the" boat!

Frank

I have a deposit/contract on her. I will close on or before December 6th.

I'm curious. Why the long wait for closing? Does this have to do with the transfer of paperwork and/or survey?

Maybe everyone else can answer but is this length of waiting period just a broker thing or would there be long waits with private sales too? As I search boats, some I have my eye on is private, others with broker.

Thanks

Ted Brewer was the designer not the builder. I think the builder was Ouyang in Canada. Still a nice boat.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Just looked at the listing on Craigs List dated yesterday. Don, if I were you I would be checking to see what is going on. 1. Why such a long wait to close. 2. Why did they just list it for sale. Just saying.

Don, Congratulations on your soon-to-be-yours new boat. She is a real beauty, and I hope to see you in the Bahamas winter of 2012, sooner if you just decide to toss it all in and go this season!

Congratulations on signing the papers. I think its more like 'popping the cork' than pulling the trigger. The good stuff will be flowing soon. I hope she is turns out wonderful. You have your plans in place and a safety valve with the survey. Best of luck!

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

1: As to the long wait. MY choice. I can move it up.
2. I spoke with the owner, all's good.

I'm sitting in California, staring at the mountains, thinking that in 2 months or less I will be on MY boat, coffee in hand, deciding weather I should stop at Hampton as planned, or turn left and try to find the Bahamas.

(My high school English teacher would string me up for that sentience.)

Probably not, but teachers of English would certainly have had issues with how you spell "sentence."

Congrats on the boat, regardless.

I debated about what I wrote as I have heard not-so good things about the company that built the boat(bad money managment skills)and I think Mr. Brewer had some problems with the company..that said they did do good work and I stand corrected..should be a good boat ...DVC
