About a week ago a couple from Missouri pulled into the parking lot of the little marina where I am staying with a 30' Hunter on a trailer.

They didn't know anyone here but a bunch of us helped float it and step the 45' mast over the next 2 days anyway. Buncha layabout reprobates.

They had bought the boat on the trailer and today, on Corpus Christi Bay, was the first time they sailed it. Although an avid sailor on his previous boat, the owner asked that my lady and I join them on their first sail. New to him systems and waters and such.

The pods of dolphins in the light green waters of the bay were a big hit. As was the performance of their boat in the light airs.

It was a short sail. We left before noon and were back at the dock before dark.

I'm guessing their jaws will be sore tomorrow. They did a lot of grinning today.

I'd rather be lucky than good.
