Re: How big of a Dinghy?

I like two sorts of dinghies:

- small yoyos, to be lifted onboard in one hand (say 2,4 meter, 20kg, etc., NO outboard)

- jockey seat ribs (the bigger the better, about 3,0 meter and 10hp about perfect for two small adults)

If you are BIG size, you want a big dinghy.

BTW space and budget unlimited, I would buy a hard dinghy that sails, rows and takes an outboard. But only some bigger boats have space to securely stow such a joy.

Re: How big of a Dinghy?

The dinghy & motor should be big enough to get your yacht out of trouble. Different for everyone. We haul a 9.5 Caribe with 15 HP. I do consider owning a 2.5 HP second motor.
