There are a lot of compromises one has to make in buying a boat. I'm 6'3" and almost compromised on headroom - I looked at some beautiful boats and thought 'well, if I go in bare feet my head only scrapes a little'

I then decided that on retirement (two years) I would rather sail in comfort - as far as headroom goes anyway - and only get to Mexico, than slouch my way to Tahiti. I mean, what the hell, I can always fly to tahiti.

So I bought a 41' Morgan Classic and LOVE it. Tons of headroom below deck and above.

Headroom... An important ideal. I have been lucky on a Baltic 55 DP. I am 6' 7". I have 5" ( a good closed fist ) space above my head. The Salon has space.. tons... Master Cabin has space. Fantastic boat.. On a friends 57' Swan there is also headroom. I believe that it is important if one spends any money that one can hold ones head high... proudly.. I wish you luck...

My Seidelmann 37 has 6'4'' headroom I believe. I am 5'7'' and can jump leisurely without hitting my head.

I seem to be a match for Bytownboy as I am 6'3" and comfortable on my Morgan OI 41', but I did live on a sloop with a 5'7" headroom when I was in my early twenties. I wouldn't put up with that as a "old" man! 'take care and joy, Aythya crew
