Not all women want jewelry; it's pretty much at the bottom of my 'want & wish' list~

I'd stick to the comfort items. Anything that contributes to hunkering in and feeling cozy is always a hit, unless you plan to float along the equator most days...

Re: Gift ideas for a liveaboard woman!

Remembering that the OP does not yet have a boat, maybe a good idea to stick to items that have use in other activities as well as cruising, so my votes are for good, high quality, light weight image stabilized binoculars, and if that's too expensive, a LED headlight with red as well as white LEDs. Or, how about a backpacking hammock? (we don't use it much anymore, but did for a while.)

Some women might appreciate safety gear.

I like Family Van's approach, giving a woman things that will make her comfortable are always super and make her feel cherished. Finally, a few years ago, I went to high quality, high thread count percale sheets for our bunk, and he's right, they feel so nice! I did get 'em from a discount store, but still quite a lot more than polyester/cotton from Target.

Re: Gift ideas for a liveaboard woman!

We're 'blue water' (logged ~20,000nm) cruisers, living aboard ~6mos/year. So our Admiral qualifies as a "liveaboard woman"...and, like most women, she knows what she wants and can be very fussy about that!

Through our cruising experiences we found a whole wonderful community of other cruisers out there, all with many shared desires and plans...and the one shared desire that always 'clicks' with us is 'Cruising in Comfort'!

We're also retired from our own businesses. So to keep our minds busy in retirement, we set out to build a business that would offer a diverse collection of products around the cruising-in-comfort theme. Ranging from totally frivolous to beautifully artistic to very practical, all of our products are used, 'blue water' tested and enjoyed by us on our beloved SV CatNirvana -- We only offer stuff that we use! -- altho many of our products are also suited to life ashore...and we're pleased to see our products include many of the suggestions above!

Please excuse the long-winded intro, but we hope it explains why there may be quite a few ideas for the OP's (and any other's!) "liveaboard woman" on our website. So take a moment to visit us at www.floatingimpressions.com.au

I'm a woman and I couldn't give two knocks for jewelry.

If she doesn't have one, a Kindle is awesome. If she does have one, gift cards to Amazon so she can buy books or movies for the Kindle are also great.

Kindles are perfect for reading in dim light so make night time reading enjoyable without using up the boat battery for lights. The Kindle battery lasts longer than a laptop battery. I also love being able to put on my headphones and stream videos that my husband wouldn't particularly enjoy, like Downton Abbey or Good Wife, or play games. It's cheap entertainment.

Okay I thought that would get a response. I was thinking boat jewelry such as an Ultra anchor, new davits or a custom stainless boarding ladder. No really😄!

Re: Gift ideas for a liveaboard woman!

This kind of reminds me of a drawing I saw of a bunch of men in a doctor's waiting room, one had an iron embedded in his skull, another had a vacuum cleaner firmly lodged up his backside, another had been smashed in the face with a toaster...

the gist of the picture being that one should never, ever, buy a woman any sort of appliance or (in your opinion) practical gift, for fear of the repercussions.

With that in mind, I'd recommend something small, soft, with no sharp edges.

Just in case.
