Fresh water

I'm exploring the possibility of spending a few or several months in the Caribbean, besides full service marinas that cost 1.15$ per ft per day, Is there a less expensive way to get fresh water ?

Re: Fresh water

You don't necessarily have to buy a night's dockage, just pull in and buy however much water (and fuel) you need then go back out and anchor.
Alternatively, you could buy a watermaker.

Re: Fresh water

Most marinas will sell water without requiring you to stay there. Sometimes it's free if you purchase fuel. We finally gave in and bought a water maker and love, love, love, it.

Re: Fresh water

every place is different; some charge a flat rate, others meter, others 'comp.'
we paid up to $.50 USD/gallon
We now have a water maker, not a financial decision but a 'quality of life' solution

Re: Fresh water

We use FSMike's plan from post #3 not only in the islands, but here in the USA.

Re: Fresh water

We get our water at fuel docks. Varies from free to dear.

You can catch rain then filter the amt you want to drink.
